Bailey
Ah, life is good...LAYLA Layla found herself young and homeless at a young age. But, little did she know that she would find the PERFECT family who would love her for the rest of her days... here is out most recent update from her family: Meghan has a new leash on life, and also a new name. Below is what her new family has to share. Simba is one lucky boy! Simba now has a new big (smaller) sister who he's ripping up the house with. The two get along wonderfully and are very happy to have each other - it's just what the doctor ordered for each. It was love at first sight and they even sleep together. Moca (the dog formerly known as Cloey) is very happy and content in her new home. After a few weeks, her and the cats don't completely see eye to eye, but it's coming with time. She's very much a family member now, is well behaved and loves her playtime and snuggletime! ZORA Just dropping you a line to say " Hello " I love the new web site , and the fact that my 2 babies are on it . Zora is doing awesome , she has given Max a second life for sure . She is so motherly and loving , she takes care of max , who is twice her size , honestly it is so funny to watch them both . I will send more pictures of them to you . Thanks again for bringing Zora to us , she is beautiful ....... BRUTUS became homeless when his owner passed away, tragically. His family placed him in a home who wasn't 'boxer saavy', so he was passed around a bit. Finally, his caregiver found us and we placed him in a fitting home. Here's what Brutus' dad had to say: ANGEL is deaf. She was loved very much by her first owner, but he didn't have the tools to train her properly. Angel, as she matured, began to destroy items in the home. This was a sign of separation anxiety. Angel is now in a great home who she has bonded with. She fits right in and has a tiny big brother to boss her around! EMMETT knows he's a very handsome boy. Emmett was found 'astray' by animal control. He was very emaciated and needed some plumping up. Emmett is a wonderful boy who enjoys all people, wiggling with something in his mouth in anticipation for attention. He is now happy in his home with a big sister, Paige. JESSIE (with his new mom and brother, Oscar) used to live in very cramped quarters with 12 other dogs! He was loved, but not given proper attention of exercise. Also, he was never socialised with men, so was fearful of these new, harsh creatures. He's now very happy in a quiet home and is doing very well. His new dad is a very gentle giant and Jessie loved him since the first moment they met. yay, Jessie! OLIVER is also one of our special needs dogs. Take a look on the page. Oliver came to us from the Toronto Humane Society. He didn't have much luck getting a placement there, because of his medical issues. Our extended family, Boxer Rescue Canada, came to his rescue and made arrangements for him to fly to us. Onliver now has a normal life and is doing wonderfully! HECTOR is a great little guy. He's a boxer and lab mix who is originally from newfoundland. He was in a shelter who was having no luck finding a suitable home for him, so Hector came with BRAC and found a wonderful home. He's very happy and very spoiled. He knows french now too ;-) SUNNI is a special girl who had a rough time. You can check her out on our special needs page. She is one of the beneficiaries of the NS SPCA's Cinderella Fund (www.spcans.ca - Cindernelli). Sunni is now loved in her home with wonderful parents, an adorable human sister and a big boxer sister! She's a wonderful ray of light! TUCKER came all the way from Florida! He was in 'impulse purchase' and proved to be a not-so-smart decision when his family came back to Nova Scotia. Whata souvinier. Tucker has a new home, and now is a true atlantic Canadian, living his life with his best bud and big sis, Taz WHISTLER What happens when your children take puppies home? They dump them on your lap and expect you to care for them. This is what the case was with Whistler. He now has a great home with a big sister and has been trained and loved - 2 things he lacked before coming to us at BRAC. PENNY has an inspiring story. Penny was owned by a homeless man. He tried his best to care for her and loved her very much. This man, however, found himself needing medical attention. He didn't want to have such until Penny was cared for. We took care of that, so he could take care of himself. Although Penny's owner was never able to care for her again, he is on the road to a new life, getting back on his feet. Penny is happy in her forever family. SAMSON had just finished a long drive to his forever home when this photo was taken. Although he was only 6 years old, he had a rough life. We believe Sam was a breeding stud in his first home. He was in a kennel in the freezing cold. His owners sold him to another couple who gave him warmth. However, despite their intentions, they couldn't properly care for a boxer. Sam has no worries of that now! He's very happy in his boxer-proven forever home with his wonderful family and big-little sister, Sophie. LUCY was taken to a vet clinic to be put to sleep. Yes, that's right - put to sleep!! Why would anyone think of doing that to this adorable little puppy? Because she's a pitbull mix. Well, Lucy showed them! Lucy has a wonderful home with a loving dad and an adoring brother. She is the queen of Seaview Park in Halifax. LEIA is now my god-dog. How did this come to be? Her original owner couldn't care for her. She had no idea how to care for a dog, no less an amstaff. Leia is now spoiled and lives with her adoring parents in Cape Breton. She's stolen many hearts along the way, and a few cat hairs here and there. OZY was on his way to his new home when this picture was taken. He came from a life of nothing and is now the pride and joy of his wonderful family. He's such a happy little guy and would put a smile on anyone's face. DAISY had to duck during her drive to her forever home. Great danes don't seem to fit very well in VW Beetles. Daisy was the long time dream of her new owners. A while after adopting Daisy, they were able to give her a brother - Hamlet. They now have a Great (dane) family. KATIE actually ended up at a shelter. She was found roaming at large and no one ever claimed her. Katie wasn't faring well at the shelter so we found her a foster home. She's a sweet girl, who, at some time, had a collar damage her neck. Those days are gone and Katie is a very loved companion, living in a wonderful home with all of the space and leisure time she wants. MARYLIN looks very sleepy, but she's just relaxing. Marilyn's owners got divorced and neither cared to keep her. She was displaced for a little while, but a couple of bullmastiff lovers found her soon enough. Marilyn is the very happy bigger sister to an older brother, Rex, and is quite happy and secure now with her family. BLUEBERRY (honarary boxer) knows he is gorgeous. Bluberry won everyone over. Sadly for him, his former owners moved and didn't care to keep their shelties. They spent months and months in a kennel. They ended up keeping the smaller for a while, but Bluberry found a new home through boxer rescue. He has a sheltie brother and wonderful owners. FANNY (honorary boxer) did have a great home, but her owner died. With nowhere to go, we took Fanny in to foster. She was in desperate need for a grooming as her coat was almost in one piece. She also had to be put on a diet :). Fanny is very happy with her new family and isn't looking back. MEEK Spent all of his time outside. We got a call from animal control one freezing night to see if we could help this boy. Man, was he ever glad we did! Meek went to his forever home and joined a big brother, Oscar. He's very loved and laughed at all of the time for his silly antics. INDY was originally owned by a young man who was very irresponsible. She wasn't cared for properly at all. When he decided to move back home with his parents, Indy was left tied outside. This was a country setting and Indy was preyed on by so many insects, teased by other animals and tormented by people. She was burned with a cigarette at some point as well. Indy is a lovely girl who loves her new owners' home cooking and abundance of love. REILLY was found abandoned in an apartment by the landlord. Her leg was damaged and she required care. She's pulled through like a trooper and is very loved by her owners, being their pride and joy. She's very much an outdoorsman's dream! She loves to tag along. MILO is so happy that he has a nice couch to lay on! Milo and his owner were homeless. She couldn't care for him and he needed some vetting. She asked us to take him, but was never able to take him back. Milo carried on like a trooper and found himself a great home where he's very happy! TAMALE MAE Molly, as she's been known, came to us in January 2005, emaciated. She had recently been ill with a terrible case of pancreatitis for months and wasn't expected to live. However, BRAC stepped up and gave her a fighting chance. Today, 2 years later, Molly is at a healthy weight and is happy. She did suffer some damage from her illness and will have to be on a strict diet for the rest of her life, so she is living it out wil one of our volunteers. LOLA is the beloved baby-dog of our volunteer, Krista. You can learn more about her on the special needs page! KUNO What a piece of work Kuno is. Kuno is the dog that started my adventure with BRAC. He was 5 years old when he came to live with us. 5 years later he's still a ball of fun. He's a stubborn ball of fun and I could kill him at times, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. My life would be too easy without him. You can see how fun he is, just by this picture. CHIMERA Chimera is obviously not a boxers. But, when there's need... Chimera was tied outside as a young pup. She was kicked when she jumped on her human, showing affection. We're pretty sure that Chimera would have ended up having the life that so many 'pit bulls' fall into - abuse and neglect. Chimera's original owner tried to do an at-home docking job of her tail. She was in such bad shape, having so much infection when we got her - it was terrible. We couldn't sabe her tail - it had to be amputated and she was very frightened of people from all of the abuse that she suffered. Chimera's been well socialized and now lives with one of our volunteers, opening her home to fosters. She is the play queen of her home and is also an active Therapy Dog with the St. John Ambulance. DAISY #1 used to live in Labrador (brrrr). Her owners adored her but it was just too cold for a boxer there. Daisy really minded the cold, even with a coat on! So, her loving owners contacted us to see if we could place her. That wasn't a problem - finding her a fight was! Daisy is now happy in NewBrunswick with a great family who love her. DAISY #2 is now happy in a bed and breakfast. You never know, you may meet her on your stay! Daisy had 2 homes before coming into BRAC. Although she was loved, her previous owners couldn't give her what she needed. Daisy has severe separation anxiety. Her last home tried all they could, but weren't able to give her what she needed to get beyond that. Luckily, Daisy now has a home where she doesn't have to deal with the torment of being alone. |
